Once you wax.. you can’t go back! Eyebrows have changed a lot over the course of 30 years, as beauty and makeup change with each era we are left with the decision of whether or not to say goodbye to our brows or to grow them out.

Benefit Cosmetics has launched an ‘brow try-on tool’ to their site using AR technologyModiFace, which is known to the beauty world for their advanced makeup technology teamed up with Benefit to let consumers try on 15 different brow styles in their phone friendly site.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Benefit Cosmetics, they are cosmetics company founded in the late 70’s in San Fransisco. Benefit is known for their cosmetic quick fix products that have branched out into every category.

in 2003, Benefit had started their brow bar services in all of their home stores and have been known for their high-end brow products.

The app allows consumers to upload a picture of themselves directly to the site, and with sensors, picks up the shape of your original brow and cast a augmented reality based feature to help you imagine yourself with a future brow shape before purchase.

So the great thing about AR technology in terms to this benefit app, it’s a great tool for consumers to be able to make a more personal and researched purchase that they won’t be hesitant about.

the fact they get to try out certain aspects of the benefits brow bar before going into purchase, and the brow try on tool also recommends to you which products you should purchase for your desired brow shape.

Its hard sometimes especially with cosmetics and apparel its hard to figure out if somethings going to work out or fit when you buy it online.

If you are someone that is a victim to buyers remorse, i would recommend using this app, along with Sephora’s app.

The Sephora app allows you to try on their products such as lipsticks and foundations using the AR technology to better your online buying hesitation.

what are your thoughts on AR technology? do you think it helps online buyers have a more personal connection that you usually only get in store? let me know.

I didn’t know what to expect when I started my blog. I had a goal in mind that I wanted to create a blog that discussed things that intrigued me; which is fashion, body positivity and creativity.

Entering the “blogosphere” has made me open up and vulnerable about my opinions because anyone can challenge them, to that I say bring it on!

This Blog post is for an assignment for my intro to writing for marketing that wants us to reflect on how we feel about coming into the blogging world. I am fairly new to blogging; I started this blog in January of 2017 after a Co-worker of mine suggested that I needed to express my creativity and talents into a blog (mainly so she can read it and get inspired).

In class there was a discussion of what makes a blog effective, especially for someone who’s starting out its good to know ways to effectively make your blog a successful one. An effective blog usually has a personal feel to it, since it’s your blog why not have yourself reflected in it.

Having your blog seem personal causes your reader to connect. A blog that shows a good example of that is Tanya Burr‘s blog; she reflects on her fashionable loves and showing her true character throughout her blog.

Say your Blog is about how to write a successful blog post (shocking, I know), create a title that catches their eye. For example, me trying to relate this post to fashion; my title will be a quote from Devil Wears Prada because Meryl Streep is Queen. An interesting

intro paragraph and ending with something that makes your reader think will always engage them, try looking at the great (and hilarious) filled blog that keeps people reading is Manrepeller, her team talks about all things fashion while kicking ass.

Short, sweet and to the point. Another successful way to have an effective blog is to keep your thoughts quick, strong and relevant for your reader. If you can enlighten and

engage your reader in 500 words or fewer, your reader is more likely to keep reading and not be overwhelmed by text. Try looking at the blog Simply Audree Kate she keeps her blog brief while her images speak for her.

What do you think a successful blog needs to be effective? Let me know in 500 words or fewer.

Have you even looked at a design from one of New York Fashion week’s shows and wondered, what the hell do i even wear this to? Ladies and Gentle men, welcome to the artistic designers of high end fashion. Fashion week was designed to show case some of the most talented designers work, that showcases the most abstract and unique pieces.

In my layout & design class we had to discuss whether form follows function and whether we agree or disagree on it. knowing myself i chose to look at it in a fashion sense.

Unlike architecture fashion is based on more of a form of an inspiration. Most designers come up with designs over an influence, for example Gucci’s Ready-to-wear looks for their spring/summer 2018 campaign was based on Elton John’s iconic stage looks. (some Gucci here )

With every inspired look that seems to have more of a form, rather then an actual use or function inspires main steam retailers to take the form of one of these designers works of art and create an item that can be used in someones daily life.

A great example of this theory is looking at a couture look and seeing an item from a retailer that has been inspired by that look.

so this look is from Kim Ellery’s fall 2017 show she wanted to take that checkered print and create something that showed power in women (hence the broad shoulder and big collar).

her look was based on a form in her mind that became a piece of art on the runway.

H&M uses inspiration from Ellery’s designs to create a made to wear style that gives her look a more functional style that people can wear.  Just one of the many styles H&M sells thats been inspired by high end fashion.

In fashion, i do agree that form does follow function when it comes to inspiration followed by function. Some cases of fashion function does come first to fit the needs of others. Burberry’s iconic trench coat was first made to keep troops warm and dry in battle, and later is considered a staple and timeless pieces in people’s wardrobes.

If you want to keep this debate going with form follows function i dare you to follow this link, an editorial by The Style Sight. the editorial talks further into how they think form follows function. The Style Sight goods

Let me know your thoughts do you think form follows function?
