Today i put together an outfit look book of a nice everyday outfit I have been loving for the lesser harsh days of winter.

Every day winter vibes:

p1080020

Army green parka: Addition Elle

Being Canadian, your outfit always gets covered by the coat, so i try to incorporate it into the outfit by finding pieces that will go with it and harmonize the outfit.

Bag: Christian Siriano

Tall ankle boots: Addition Elle

p1080037

White knit sweater: Forever 21+

distressed essential denim: Addition Elle

tan coloured choker necklace: Reitmans

The perfect skinny jean i find is the hardest thing to look for in plus size, there either too baggy in the knee, or just aren’t skinny enough in the leg and end up looking like a straight leg jean. These jeans are honestly the perfect skinny jean, they feel like a soft high quality denim without feeling thin like a jegging. Highly recommend them, and if your not into the distressed look they do come in regular washes.

Putting outfits together is honestly my most favourite thing to do, finding combinations and colours and textures and patterns to harmonize all together to create a wonderful outfit is like a work of art outside of a canvas. Being plus size in a world of fashion doesn’t even discourage me, it makes me work harder to push boundaries and to show curvier men and women we can honestly wear anything everyone else can. I love the way an outfit can change someones outlook on themselves, letting them see all the greatness on their body and make them truly feel at peace with themselves.

I hope this encourages you to beat the Canadian cold and wear something you’ve never worn before or to hit the town this weekend in your favourite outfit.

As much as i love sephora, (live it, breath it, live in it ;)) i’m a sucker for cheap high end dupes and really amazing drugstore reviews. Today i am showing you guys some of the best drugstore products I’ve tried, fell in love with and repurchase to this day. Most of these products aren’t as cheap as you would find on pinterest, (especially Canadian prices) but these drugstore items let you have the luxury of high end for way less!. lets get started:

1.e.l.f blush palette in light, (13.19$ walmart)

16113889_10212411602031571_6373406451761645340_n

Quad blushes, 3 matte 1 shimmer, SUPER PIGMENTED (so use lightly, depending how much you like to use) i know i love to have blush options and this is honestly everything i need, super amazing buy and the prices was really great for the quality and amount you get.

2. COVERGIRL clump crusher mascara (8.99$ walmart, 11$ shoppers)

16143367_10212411600351529_5487044186941484022_n

HOLY GRAIL MASCARA HANDS DOWN, i could rave about this mascara for years. I’ve been using it for a few years, my mom even uses it. if you like to add a lot of coats like i do, but hate the spider lash and the clumps but want mega volume, this is your girrrrrrrrrrl. i usually use two different mascaras for my top lashes to get a different look, but its the only mascara i trust for my bottom lashes. very inexpensive but a luxury high quality item.

3.L’Oreal Brow Stylist Plumper Brow Gel, 385 Transparent (15$ Walmart, it has been on sale before for like 7$ )

0c34f03de5944cad76fe574ec7d8cb43

this is about my third favorite brow gel to keep my hair’s in place, i usually opt for the NYX control freak brow gel, but i have to order it online and with shipping it comes to more then this one. I’ve used the Anastasia Beverly Hills one before its probably my favorite but i don’t think the price is reasonable. The L’Oreal brow plumper works just as well as the Anastasia brow gel does, it keeps it in place for 6+ hours and doesn’t make your eyebrows feel crusty.

4.NYX micro brow pencil (12$ nyx.ca & shoppers drug mart)

browcollage

This brow pencil is the best drugstore one I’ve used so far. NYX has a lot of colours to choose from the line, so it makes it easier to match. The micro part lets you define your brows and make hair like strokes to achieve a really great look. Comes with a spooly at the end to comb them.

5.L’Oreal Paris Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation (22$ shoppers, 16$ Walmart)

16114986_10212411600871542_5354079090903474611_n

I’ve gone back and fourth with drugstore foundation, hating everything, loving it, etc. BEST DRUGSTORE FOUNDATION HANDS DOWN, for years I’ve seen beauty youtubers use the Infallible pro matte foundation but me being so dry it doesn’t work, (its incredible if you are oilier, i do recommend x100). If you are dry it is amazing, its a beautiful medium coverage foundation (easy to build into full coverage) it leaves you looking glowy and fresh and super light weight. The best way to put this on i found was a beauty blender sponge, in a dabbing motion. One Con i would say (for now) is their shade range is a little bit of a miss with girls who have super pink tones, (the one i have, 202, and 201 have the most pink) and needing darker skin tones as well, but i did hear they were going to be bringing more shades in maybe this year. (yay!)

6.NYX matte lip cream (9$ online & shoppers drug mart)

nyxlipcollage

I own a few colours of these and every colour gives a different quality of how much pigment you will get, but honestly i love these matte liquid lipsticks so much. The price of these guys is amazing for the quality and this shade Stockholm is like a pinky cream peachy nude and i wear it 24/7 its my go to nude lip. there’s a ton of shades online, and also a decent selection in store. they dry super quickly and i usually get 4+ hours until i might want to touch up a tad. Never leaves anything on my teeth or anywhere else.

7. NYX Strobe of Genius lighting palette (27$ shoppers)

strobecollage

(this palette has gone on sale in the past, so if your not liking the price, just watch for it)

I bought this palette after my high end highlighters were getting to the point of done, and so to keep them lasting i picked this guy up on sale at shoppers drug mart, after researching a lot of great reviews i purchased it, and honestly this strobing powder is legit. Now if you want a soft subtle glow this might be for you, but if you want that popping blinding highlight across the top of your cheek, this is yours. I usually mix colours to get something new but one colour alone has an amazing pigment. The best way to apply this is with a fan brush, sweeping it in little back and fourth motions across the top of your cheek bones gives the best pay off. BONUS: if you want EVEN MORE pigment, spray your brush with MAC fix plus or makeup forever mist+fix

happy drugstore hunting, and i hope you try some of these amazing products!

and if you have any amazing drug store finds you want me to know about or talk about, email me, (info in contacts page)

Today i am looking back at 2016, by giving you a snippet of some of my favorite looks from this past year. Highlights from last year: chokers, bodysuits, bell bottoms, bell sleeves, ruffles all made a come back from the inspiration from the roaring 70’s and the stellar 90’s. For some of us these were new fashion eras for us to explore and get our hands on, and for the rest this was a blast from the past that we either embraced and dug out of the back of our closet or just shunned in fear of a nightmare flash back (lol, sorry Mom).  This was honestly my favorite year for fashion (so far, lets be honest). I loved the styles, they were so classic and easy to pair with anything, from the beige cream neutral colours to the shades and our classics; golds, greens, and burgundy (thanks to pantones colours of the year.)

woohoo

The Modern Puffy Shirt (Poets blouse)

I fell in love with this shirt when i bought it, I’ve always loved a crisp white blouse to have in a wardrobe for all types of occasions. I paired the blouse with a high waisted pair of skinny jeans, cuffed them as i had a higher ankle pair of gladiator sandals. With The white blouse i went with another neutral coloured and paired it with a long maxi vest to add a bit more professionalism to the outfit, i wear this vest all the time, it goes great if you want to add some dimension to a plain outfit or just feel like bundling up and need a layer. For accessories i kept it simple by just adding a minimalist gold choker i bought from the dollar store (I KNOW RIGHT?) super cheap but my favorite choker that i feel like i could keep wearing for years.  the pop of colour for this outfit was my lips, I had on NYX cream matte lip in ‘Copenhagen’ from their online Canadian store. this outfit is very 90’s inspired (hint the Seinfeld references lol) and i loved it so much.

Fall varsity throwback

this outfit was my transition into fall, my favorite season of life. The fashion in the fall is so full of texture and layers and the colours just bring out everyone’s passion for fashion. For this outfit, i took inspiration from the 70’s school style, and a hint of L.A. (The Kardashian’s fashion stylist Monica Rose) with some modern accessories. I love this varsity white sweater from forever 21, lower neckline great to pair with jeans or a skirt, it just screams football homecoming game during the 70’s era, just need some flare jeans and some cute clogs. I paired the sweater with a basic black pair of Jennings not to take away from the sweater, but pairs well with the overall outfit. Now the draped over maxi suede trench was a mix of 70’s suede and the cape effect i see a lot with the Kardashians from their amazingly talented fashion stylist Monica Rose. Accessories i kept simple with my gold choker and gold cat eyed sunglasses

.

Body con mini skirt combo

This outfit is amazing in many ways. For starters this body suit is everything, the colour is a perfect grey, you can pair it with a pair of skinnies, miniskirts, shorts, leggings and pretty much anything you can think of. I paired this body suit with a leather zippered mini skirt. I added a pair of leggings to this outfit because of the weather and to give it more professionalism, but i could of done a night out easily with this outfit by ditching the leggings and maybe unzipping the body suit more adding a more plunging neckline. This outfit was enough of a statement as it is, so i kept accessories to a minimum. I’m wearing my Call it spring opalescent choker necklace and my rose gold watch. I don’t usually count hairstyles as accessories, but i did a half up top knot to pull my outfit all together and give it a trendy vibe.

These outfits pretty much summed up my 2016 of fashion, i wore these outfits a few times, changing up certain pieces but keeping the same vibes. I can’t wait to see what 2017 brings us for fashion but i know its going to be awesome (since,.. its the 13th of January.. we know lol). I hope this has inspired to take some fashion forward dares, or to just bring out some pieces in your wardrobe you haven’t worn in awhile. Have fun dressing up!,
