Today i am looking back at 2016, by giving you a snippet of some of my favorite looks from this past year. Highlights from last year: chokers, bodysuits, bell bottoms, bell sleeves, ruffles all made a come back from the inspiration from the roaring 70’s and the stellar 90’s. For some of us these were new fashion eras for us to explore and get our hands on, and for the rest this was a blast from the past that we either embraced and dug out of the back of our closet or just shunned in fear of a nightmare flash back (lol, sorry Mom). This was honestly my favorite year for fashion (so far, lets be honest). I loved the styles, they were so classic and easy to pair with anything, from the beige cream neutral colours to the shades and our classics; golds, greens, and burgundy (thanks to pantones colours of the year.)

The Modern Puffy Shirt (Poets blouse)
I fell in love with this shirt when i bought it, I’ve always loved a crisp white blouse to have in a wardrobe for all types of occasions. I paired the blouse with a high waisted pair of skinny jeans, cuffed them as i had a higher ankle pair of gladiator sandals. With The white blouse i went with another neutral coloured and paired it with a long maxi vest to add a bit more professionalism to the outfit, i wear this vest all the time, it goes great if you want to add some dimension to a plain outfit or just feel like bundling up and need a layer. For accessories i kept it simple by just adding a minimalist gold choker i bought from the dollar store (I KNOW RIGHT?) super cheap but my favorite choker that i feel like i could keep wearing for years. the pop of colour for this outfit was my lips, I had on NYX cream matte lip in ‘Copenhagen’ from their online Canadian store. this outfit is very 90’s inspired (hint the Seinfeld references lol) and i loved it so much.

Fall varsity throwback
this outfit was my transition into fall, my favorite season of life. The fashion in the fall is so full of texture and layers and the colours just bring out everyone’s passion for fashion. For this outfit, i took inspiration from the 70’s school style, and a hint of L.A. (The Kardashian’s fashion stylist Monica Rose) with some modern accessories. I love this varsity white sweater from forever 21, lower neckline great to pair with jeans or a skirt, it just screams football homecoming game during the 70’s era, just need some flare jeans and some cute clogs. I paired the sweater with a basic black pair of Jennings not to take away from the sweater, but pairs well with the overall outfit. Now the draped over maxi suede trench was a mix of 70’s suede and the cape effect i see a lot with the Kardashians from their amazingly talented fashion stylist Monica Rose. Accessories i kept simple with my gold choker and gold cat eyed sunglasses
.
Body con mini skirt combo
This outfit is amazing in many ways. For starters this body suit is everything, the colour is a perfect grey, you can pair it with a pair of skinnies, miniskirts, shorts, leggings and pretty much anything you can think of. I paired this body suit with a leather zippered mini skirt. I added a pair of leggings to this outfit because of the weather and to give it more professionalism, but i could of done a night out easily with this outfit by ditching the leggings and maybe unzipping the body suit more adding a more plunging neckline. This outfit was enough of a statement as it is, so i kept accessories to a minimum. I’m wearing my Call it spring opalescent choker necklace and my rose gold watch. I don’t usually count hairstyles as accessories, but i did a half up top knot to pull my outfit all together and give it a trendy vibe.
These outfits pretty much summed up my 2016 of fashion, i wore these outfits a few times, changing up certain pieces but keeping the same vibes. I can’t wait to see what 2017 brings us for fashion but i know its going to be awesome (since,.. its the 13th of January.. we know lol). I hope this has inspired to take some fashion forward dares, or to just bring out some pieces in your wardrobe you haven’t worn in awhile. Have fun dressing up!,
